Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation’s German Chancellor Fellowship Program

Fellows spend one year in Germany where they will meet with other young leaders from around the world and undertake independent projects at host institutions. Fellows will receive living stipends, intensive language courses, and seminars. Graduating seniors and alumni who are United States citizens who received their bachelor’s degree within the last year are encouraged to apply.

Amelia Earhart Fellowship

A $10,000 scholarship for women with superior academic backgrounds who are pursuing a Ph.D. in aerospace-related sciences or engineering. Seniors and alumni who are planning to pursue a doctoral degree in an aerospace-related science or engineering field are eligible to apply.

American-Scandinavian Foundation Fellowship

Up to $23,000 for a fellowship or $5,000 for a grant to pursue research or study in a Scandinavian country for one year. Current seniors or alumni who are United States citizens or permanent residents are eligible to apply.

Annual John Jay College-Rubin Museum Writing Competition

The Rubin Museum of Art sponsors an annual writing competition with cash prizes awarded to those who write the top submissions. Any John Jay undergraduate student in good standing may participate in this contest. Essays are due in the Spring.

Boren Fellowship

Assistance of up to $30,000 to graduate students for study or research in an area of the world that is critical to United States national security interests. Graduate students who are United States citizens enrolled at a graduate-degree granting United States institution are eligible to apply. Boren fellowships are not available to study in Western Europe, Canada, Australia or New Zealand.

Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Fellowship Program

For those who want to become Foreign Service Officers in the U.S. Department of State, the Rangel Graduate Fellowship Program provides benefits of up to $90,000 over two years toward a two-year master's degree, arranges internships on Capitol Hill and at U.S. embassies, and provides mentorship and professional development support. Seniors or alumni who are United States citizens with GPAs of 3.20 or higher are eligible to apply.

Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Scholarship

One time scholarship of $5,000 to be used for graduate tuition assistance and related educational expenses to assist Latino graduate students. Alumni in graduate school who are United States citizens with a demonstrated financial need who actively participate in community service activities are eligible to apply.

Critical Language Scholarship Program

Full scholarship and transportation to and from a foreign country to study a critical language at a summer language institute. This program is sponsored by the United States Department. Critical languages include: Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bangla, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Turkish and Urdu. Seniors who are United States citizens and at least 18 years old are eligible to apply.

Donald M. Payne International Development Graduate Fellowship

Fellows receive funding of up to $90,000 toward a two-year master’s degree program. Fellows will also participate in internships in Washington, D.C. Upon completion of their master’s degree program, fellows become USAID Foreign Service Officers. Seniors or alumni who are United States citizens with a GPA of 3.20 or higher are eligible to apply.

Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship

An annual stipend of $20,000 for three years for individuals engaged in a research-based (dissertation) graduate program leading to a Ph.D. or Sc.D. degree. Seniors and alumni who are United States citizens or permanent residents who will be beginning graduate school in the Fall are eligible to apply.

Fulbright U.S. Student Program

Yearlong grant to do a research project, study or teach English in a foreign country. Seniors and alumni who are United States citizens are eligible to apply. Applicants must be proficient in the language of the country where they are seeking to use a Fulbright Grant.

Gates-Cambridge Scholarship

Full tuition scholarship to the University of Cambridge to study for a post-graduate degree in any subject. Current seniors and alumni who are not citizens of the United Kingdom are eligible to apply.

German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Study Scholarship

Scholarship and living stipend to fund a year of independent study or a master’s program at a German University. United States citizens who have a good command of the German language are eligible to apply.

Hertz Foundation Graduate Fellowship

Hertz fellows receive full tuition scholarship and a living stipend to pursue a Ph.D. in the applied physical, biological and engineering sciences. This includes applied mathematics, statistics and the quantitative aspects of modern biology. Graduating seniors or alumni, who are United States citizens or permanent residents and are willing to commit their skills to the United States during times of emergency, are eligible to apply.

Humanity in Action Fellowship

Humanity in Action fellows participate in an annual month-long human rights fellowship program held each summer in Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, Paris or Warsaw. The fellowship covers the full cost of participation in the program and includes housing and most meals. Seniors and alumni of the classes of 2013 and 2014 are eligible to apply.

James Madison Memorial Fellowship

This fellowship provides a tuition scholarship of up to $24,000 to earn a master’s degree in American history or political science. Fellows agree to teach American history, American government and/or Social Studies full time to grades 7-12 for one year for each year that funding was received.

Marshall Scholarship

One to two year full-tuition scholarship and living stipend to study any field at a graduate level at a university in the United Kingdom. Current seniors or alumni who are United States citizens with a GPA of 3.70 or higher are eligible to apply.

George J. Mitchell Scholarship

A yearlong full tuition scholarship and living stipend to pursue a post graduate degree at a university in Ireland or Northern Ireland. Current seniors who are United States citizens between the ages of 18 and 30 are eligible to apply.

National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship

Three year grant of $30,000 per year and a $10,500 cost of education allowance for tuition and fees to study for a graduate degree in a STEM (science, technology, engineering or mathematics) field at any United States graduate degree-granting institution. United States citizens or permanent residents who plan to begin a research-based Master’s or Ph.D. program at an accredited United States graduate institution are eligible to apply.

Rhodes Scholarship

The scholarship provides full tuition and a living stipend for one to three years of graduate study, or the pursuit of a second bachelor’s degree in any subject, at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. Current seniors or alumni who are United States citizens between the ages of 18 and 23 are eligible to apply.

Herbert Scoville, Jr. Peace Fellowship

Scoville fellows participate in full-time six-to-nine month fellowships in Washington, D.C. that focus on peace and security issues at non-profit public interest organizations. Fellows are compensated and receive health insurance and transportation to and from Washington, D.C. Current seniors or alumni are eligible to apply.

Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans

Fellow receive up to $20,000 per year in tuition assistance and up to $25,000 per year for living expenses, to support two years of graduate study in any field from any graduate-degree granting United States institution. Current seniors or alumni who are 30 years old or younger and New Americans (who were born abroad and are now United States citizens or green card holders or whose parents were born abroad and became United States citizens) are eligible to apply.

Stephen J. Brady Stop Hunger Scholarship

A $5,000 scholarship as well as a $5,000 grant in the recipient’s name to a hunger-related charity of the recipient’s choice. Applicants must demonstrate an on-going commitment to their community by performing unpaid volunteer services impacting hunger in the United States within the last 12 months. Seniors or graduate students who are 25 years old or younger are eligible to apply.

Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Graduate Fellowship

Pickering fellows receive up to $40,000 per year for each year of a two year master’s degree program. This fellowship is for individuals who are seeking to enter the United States Department of State Foreign Service. Fellows participate in two paid summer internships: one in the United States and one abroad. Those who complete this program agree to work for the United States Department of State Foreign Service for at least three years following the completion of their education. Seniors or alumni who are United States citizens with GPAs of 3.20 or higher who are currently seeking admission to graduate school are eligible to apply.
