LLS 215 History and Politics of Modern Puerto Rico

This course examines the political, social, and economic development of Puerto Rico from 1898 to the present. Among the key issues to be studied are the transition from Spanish to American rule, political factionalism, the impact of American colonialism on Puerto Rican culture, economics, and the diaspora.
Prerequisite
ENG 101, and sophomore standing or above or permission of the instructor
