MAT 302 Probability and Mathematical Statistics II

3 hours

This course is the second of two courses in mathematical statistics. It emphasizes statistical topics that are important for data science, in particular statistical inference. Topics include Point and Interval estimation of parameters including the study of unbiased, consistent, efficient and sufficient estimators, methods of moments and maximum likelihood estimation and confidence intervals, theory and methods of statistical hypothesis testing including Neyman-Pearson principle, likelihood ratio test and power of the test, analysis of variance (ANOVA), linear and multiple regression, goodness of fit tests and nonparametric tests.
