EJS 100 Cultivating Environmental Justice in a Living World

3 credits.

This course introduces Environmental Justice (EJ) as a framework for students to reflect on the relationships between the individual, the broader community (including our living environment) and struggles for justice shaped by race, class, and power. We will use the Hudson River Estuary and NYC as a living classroom to explore individual and collective responsibilities. Drawing on Indigenous and other perspectives, we will explore possibilities for restorative practices and opportunities to cultivate more hopeful futures.
