3 hours

This course is an introduction to the "reading of film," acquainting students with the language of film and providing them with the tools to understand the meaning of film.  Through the screening of landmark works and films by major filmmakers, the "reader"/viewer gains an increased awareness of the ideological and aesthetic concerns of the cinema.  The course provides students with the means to see film with a trained eye.
