MAT 244 Calculus IV

3 hours

In this course, which is the fourth course in the calculus sequence, multi-variable integration along with an introduction to vector analysis are discussed. Subjects studied include the gradient vector, maximum and minimum values, double and triple integrals over general regions, and the computation of multiple integrals using alternative coordinate systems. Vector fields, line integrals, path independence, Green’s theorem, the divergence theorem, surface integrals and Stoke’s theorem are also considered. Applications emphasizing the laws of classical physics will be presented.
